The color of daylight varies from morning, to noon, and to evening. It also does so differently in winter, with an overcast sky, or in the fog. Color differences are even more pronounced between various sources of artificial light. Arc lights appear to us as bluish-white, halogen bulbs yellowish, normal tungsten bulbs even more yellowish, candlelight warm orange. But our perception adapts to changed colors after only a short time, so that after a few minutes we perceive practically any light as white again. But color films react quite differently they faithfully register every deviation of color, be it ever so small, from the norm as determined by their color sensitization. The 81 series filters are useful with daylight corrected film in cool light conditions. Great for improving flesh tones, they create warmer tones and brighter colors on overcast days or when shooting with electronic flash. Why B+W? : You wouldnt handicap yourself by running a marathon in combat boots, so why handicap your high quality lens by using an inferior filter? B+W filters are made to the same high technology standards that are used in the production of the worlds finest lenses. They are diamond cut from German Schott optical glass, precision ground, polished and tested to the finest lens quality to ensure flatness and parallel thickness. This assures that every B+W filter is free from color aberrations and internal flaws. Many other brands of filters are cut from greenish window glass sheets or made from pressed blanks; methods that introduce internal strain and stress. Combined with imperfections in the glass, this can cause refraction of light and inconsistent image quality. With so many B+W filters to choose from, you should never make your good lens a loser by degrading it with an inferior filter. |
